Well, the title says it all. I can't stand liver and onions. What about you guys?

Post 2 by Gracesong (Zone BBS is my Life) on Friday, 04-May-2007 5:53:02

Wow! I'm surprised no one's responded! lol
Well, coming from an Asian background, I've had to eat a number of very unpleasant things.
One of them has got to be liver! I HATE LIVER!!! It jsut ahs this very wierd and gross aftertaste. Another is pork skin. Now, that's something that really makes me feel as though I'd like to hurl! If we put it into a noodle like ramen type dish, then the skin will be very juicy and just bleh! You bite into it, and the juice just oozes out! Ewww!
Also, I've tried pork blood, and that's a world of ickiness too!
Oh, and of course, frog legs! Nooo Never!

The cheap tesco pizza we had last night.
I'd bet there would be more flavour in the wrapping than in the pizza.

Post 4 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Thursday, 10-May-2007 11:30:36

Aw'w'w! Liver and onions, mash and gravy's beautiful. A nice thick gravy works wonders. I've always hated most vegetables. Beetroot, cabbage, string beans, sweetcorn, sweet potato, diced sweed, spring onions, spinach and aubergines. Yucky! ?They all make me want to throw up. My mother unfortunately, loves them to death and won't hesitate to put them in nearly all of her bloody recipes.

O, and I forgot leeks, horseraddish and watercress. Ew'w'w'w! Just mentioning them on this board makes me want to puke.

Well I am quite a fussy eater at the best of times. But I don't like pasta or garlic at all. I like my food dry, I know some people will wonder how I can eat anything like that but I can. I don't like butter iether.

Post 7 by worthless shitface (Account disabled) on Thursday, 10-May-2007 15:38:18

the worst thing i ever ate was dogshit..er umm, i hope you know im kidding lol
the worst thing was cooked spinach or mushrooms, i don't get the point of eating or trying for that matter, to eat tasteless slime, raw spinach isn't bad but don't tell any of my family, my mom tries to sneak it in salads thinking we wouldnt know..

Post 8 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Thursday, 10-May-2007 15:44:21

Post 10 by jamesk (This site is so "educational") on Thursday, 10-May-2007 21:03:15

wow, would have to totally agree with the part about the liver, but otherwise, not much I don't like. and frog legs are scrumptuous.

Post 11 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Friday, 11-May-2007 7:16:00

Aw'w'w'w! Payella's gorgeous, especially the way my mum makes it at home. I agree raw spinach must be just totally disgusting though. Mum cooked ours and hid it in this fish and sauce dish I used to love when I was tiny. Cod, mashed potato, peas, parsley or butter sauce and ew'w'w'w yuck, spinach.

Jen.

Post 12 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Friday, 11-May-2007 7:18:35

Yeah, hospital food is supposed to have a reputation of being really nasty. lol I just had overnight stays in hospitals a few times, but the food wasn't that bad, IMO.

Post 19 by Salem (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 16-May-2007 22:54:12

Braunsweiger and Brussells sprouts. Sauerkraut is nasty too.

Post 20 by Wild Wyoming Woman (Newborn Zoner) on Wednesday, 30-May-2007 20:59:35

I’d have to say an instant box of scalloped potatoes with cheese sauce. I had some of that for supper last night and it was totally gross. While it didn’t taste spoiled, I could tell that the cheese had a lot of preservatives in it. I don’t think I’ll be eating that stuff again. LOL!

Post 21 by The Great Rabbit (Queen of random) on Thursday, 14-Jun-2007 23:43:00

k i'm bored so just randomly replying to board topics because i just decided to figure them out. lol
well i'm a pretty picky eater sometimes. but one thing i remember i ate that was just gross was a barbecue sandwich at the Texas school for the blind; actually most of the food from there wasn't all that good. lol maybe it's because it's cafeteria food. lol
i hate scalloped potatoes; well every once in awhile they're good but usually i just can't eat them. i'm not too crazy about a lot of vegitables but some are ok. but yeah anyway that barbecue sandwich was just bad, it made my stomach yell at me. lol
and i can't eat arbys because it made me really sick when i ate a sandwich from there; it was a nasty-tasting sandwich too. bleh

Post 22 by The Giggling Cowboy (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 15-Jun-2007 8:01:15

Raw cabbage! Blecch! It tastes like lettuce gone bad. Oddly? I like cooked cabbage (as in corned beef and cabbage) just fine. LOL!

Spinich pie would have to be the worced thing I've ever tried, it's just ransid, also curried weeners and rice, can you say pu'u'u'u'u'u'uke! Hey another person who doesn't like butter! The weird thing is, I can't handle butter or cheese in it's raw state, like on sandwitches, because that's when I become violently ill to the point of projectile hurling, but I can have buttered popcorn, and same for pizza, very weird.

Post 26 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Saturday, 16-Jun-2007 4:26:43

okay, ketchup over noodles and the other one in that post could also have gone in the weird food combinations board lol and yuck!

Saurkraut. Of course though I saw something on Tv that looked even grosser. Lutefisk, which is this really nasty fish from the Norwegians. The host of Taste of America on the Travel channel wouldn't even touch it. Also, if you like shows about weird food, try Bizarre Foods, mondays on the travel channel. truly disgusting stuff!

Post 39 by Texas Shawn (The cute, cuddley, little furr ball) on Friday, 20-Jul-2007 5:04:46

Mushrooms, water chestnuts, they taste like what I think a roach would.

Sorry Asians, but most of your foods are not all that exciting to me, Sometimes I woner if they just make shit up to see if it would be good! Kim che. Yuck.

A dish has to smell good before I'll eat it.

Yum. dolmades. But they have to be made right or yeah, they will taste bad. And even as a Greek, I don't like spanikopita (spinach pie). But then again, I'm not much into vegetables, especially things like brockoli. I can handle spinach in papoutsakia though. I also hate the smell of sourcrowt or of cabbage. I don't like tomatoes either, though my boyfriend eats them like candy and so does my mother. But I think the worst food I've ever had was what we call poison pork chops. One night, Mom made pork chops and to this day, I have no clue what happened. But they were bad. I took one bite and spit it out. Needless to say, we all ate something else that night.

Post 50 by snookie (Newborn Zoner) on Thursday, 07-Aug-2008 0:33:00

Well, I'm of German descent on my mother's side, and when we used to go to Ohio almost every summer, someone would always fix bratwursts and sauerkraut. I like brats, but I can't stand sauerkraut! Yick! lol. There's actually not a lot of things I won't eat. There are a few things I know I'll never touch, such as liver, cow tongue, and pig intestines, but the only things I really don't like that I've tried are tomatoes, olives, artichokes, black-eyed peas (although I could eat those if I had to), and worst of all, potted meat (the trying of which was easily one of the most traumatic experiences of my life! lmao!).

Post 60 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Saturday, 25-Jul-2009 9:25:59

well, I was hungry. Probably the worsed food I've ever consumed would have to be peas, and/or sweet potatoes. Except for a few items, if it's green I don't generally touch it.

Post 61 by turricane (happiness and change are choices ) on Monday, 03-Aug-2009 15:21:08

creamed and/or cooked spinach is horrible. It's a texture thing for me. The raw version is fine.

Pickled beets are not a food. Sorry those of you who like them.

Malted milk balls give me the willie willies. I can't eat them at all.

My mom made this horrible food called creamed potatoes with peas. the potatoes were mushy and the sauce had this awful taste. Oh yes, her scrambled eggs were nasty too.

Finally the most vomitrocious food is liver and onions. If a terrorist had me up against the wall and said eat liver or die, I'd have to negotiate.

Post 62 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Monday, 03-Aug-2009 21:58:51

Post 68 by LittleSneezer (The Zone-BBS is my prison, but I like it here.) on Monday, 21-Mar-2011 21:37:36

Five or six years ago, I ordered tripe when I was at a restaurant with some friends, thinking it was fish. I was really grossed out when I found out what it really was and tried it! I'm a vegetarian now because I actually don't like meat much. I don't like butter, and I hate all kinds of cheese. I also can't stand chocolate or frosting/icing. A thin glaze on coffeecake is okay, but that's it. Beets, lima beans, sweet potatoes, dolmades, and Indian food are awesome!

Post 69 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 30-Mar-2011 6:17:30

Post 72 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Saturday, 02-Apr-2011 19:31:49

Considering the age range on here, I'm surprised at some of you being forced to eat liver and onions. It was old man's food when I was a boy, and I don't think our parents had us suffer it: we were the lucky ones I guess.
Anyway here's my list:
Baked winter squash that is positively disgusting
- Eggplant of any sort
- yams, sweet potatos any of that even and especially when attempted to be candied all that is just gross food
- bananas raw.
If my wife wants to insist for health reasons I eat a banana there's only one way I will: if it's greener than most people will eat them.
I've learned to tolerate the ground turkey and other health foods that strip out all the good flavor, but yeah bland foods like Bob Evans are just bleh. You eat it and then wonder what's the point?

Post 73 by squidwardqtentacles (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 09-Apr-2011 20:53:54

I've eaten the domadez in post 35. It IS gross! I don't much care for French cuisine, except for "soupe a l'oignon", that delicious onion soup with the cheese & bread. Liver where Mr Squid comes from is the "organ of love" rather than the heart like here, so liver is considered a very respectable, loving dish to serve. One guy cooked it with WAY TOO MUCH olive oil...poor guy had a tendency to go overboard on a lot of stuff...and all I could taste was the olive oil. Can't say I like olives either. One thing I will starve before I eat is hummus. Chick peas are great in soups, stews, on top of good Indian dishes, but mushed with olive oil & lemon juice? Blech...

Post 74 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Sunday, 10-Apr-2011 17:36:58

Post 75 by LittleSneezer (The Zone-BBS is my prison, but I like it here.) on Sunday, 10-Apr-2011 18:35:19

I like olives in moderation, and I love hummus. Dolmades are stuffed grape leaves.
Once my uncle gave me a chocolate-covered coffee bean (apparently he forgot I hate chocolate). It was one of the most disgusting things ever invented!

Post 76 by TechnologyUser2012 (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 10-Apr-2011 20:17:28

Poor Jess, you can be so hard to please sometimes. lol! I absolutely love hummus too... I think wheat thins with hummus is one of my favorite snacks. Don't think I've tried dolmades though.

Post 77 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 03-Jun-2011 9:02:33

Mine I think would be the meat in menudo, chicken skin (unless it's fried), anything with both a slippery and chewy texture like that. It just makes me gag, and if I do get a tiny piece of say chicken/meat fat and can't take it out of my mouth to throw away, I'll have to swallow it down quickly, usually with some water or some other food that I can hide it in. But usually I will go thru my food before I eat it or if I find any fat/soft skin, and pick it all out first before continuing to eat.

Post 78 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Friday, 03-Jun-2011 9:05:37

I am also not much into sweet potatoes, but I will eat it once in awhile and it's not as bad as the above-mentioned chicken/meat stuff.

Post 79 by CrazyCapricorn (I lost my conscience! Anyone seen it?) on Friday, 03-Jun-2011 14:20:39

When I was younger, I was having dinner at one of my neighbors' house, and she tried to force me to eat sushi (not sure I spelled that right). But she was so insistent on me trying it, that she actually chased me with a fork full. I'm not even kidding; I ran out of her house, and almost across the street to my house to avoid eating it. Yeah I know; I wouldn't've actually known whether or not I liked it unless I tried it, but certain textures make me want to puke. And I've never tried beets, but by the sound of them, and especially the smell, I'm not sure I want to.

Post 80 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Friday, 03-Jun-2011 16:39:29

MMMM sushi! But it's one of those things where you either love it or hate it.

Let's see. On the list of foods I don't like:
ketchup, sour crout, basically anything pickled, mayo....nasty! papaya (if that's spelled right), any kind of powdered or processed cheese (dont' worry. the real cheeses are great), horseraddish, blue cheese....also very nasty! and I think that's it for me.

Post 81 by LittleSneezer (The Zone-BBS is my prison, but I like it here.) on Saturday, 04-Jun-2011 1:07:52

I love papaya, but I agree that most of the other things mentioned in the last post are pretty gross.

Eggs, in any cooked form, the only exception being hard-boiled in potato salad. I don't even like hard-boiled egg on salad. Ranch dressing, to me, has to be the most disgusting condiment ever invented. I also absolutely hate blue cheese, mushrooms, most alfredo sauce, most seafood, Miracle Whip, most sausage, sauerkraut, boiled chicken (unless it's in a soup) and venison. Yuck!! I once hadd venison stew, and the more I ate, the more disgusting it got!! I haven't tried much game, but goose is absolutey disgusting, so I highly doubt I'd like elk, or any other type of game. I haven't tried liver, or any other organ meat, but I'm sure I'd find it revolting.

Beets are definitely disgusting, they taste like dirt, even when they're pickled. So yeah, pickled dirt, anyone? I also hate eggs for the most part, except scrambled eggs, but even then I have to drown them in salsa or make an omelet. Hard-boiled eggs on salads are also disgusting. And speaking of weird things to put on salads, have any of you ever had the unfortunate experience of eating french fries on a salad? Bleh! I love both, but the 2 do not belong together. The fries get all soggy from the dressing and it's just nasty. Let's see, I also hate any kind of cheese, except cream cheese and even then it has to be in a baked good like a cheesecake, I can't just eat cream cheese on a bagel. I also hate sour cream, but I love yogurt, which people tell me makes no sense, lol. As for that chocolate covered coffee bean, I'd love to try that, it sounds amazing!

The worst food food that i had to try was this laladee that my grampa gave.
I do not know what it was called.
But I can tell you you that it was gross.

O, and vinegar. I love to cook with it, but I can't stand to use it as a condiment, unless it's in a premade salad dressing that also happens to be very heavily seasoned. I can't imagine how people put vinegar on their fries, although some people can't possibly understand how I can drink coffee unsweatened, so, I guess we all have one.

I don't put anything in my coffee either. What annoys me about that is when smart ass people ask me, when they see me drinking a cup of black coffee, if I'm trying to grow hair on my chest. I'd like to punch them.

yeah. if the coffee is fresh enough, it tastes really good that way; not to mention it's a lot healthier. I could never drink stale coffee that way, though. Ewww!

black coffee is the only kind to drink. real women drink it that way. when i was a kid i thought i hated it because my mom gave it to me as she liked it. in other words would you have some coffee with your milk and sugar? i put a little diet sweetener in it and that's it.

oh to the person who said they disliked sweet potatoes, i totally agree. when i wrote on this a couple years ago forgot to add that. they are totally abhorent. don't tell me that you can surely make some that i'll like. no thank you very much.

finally though it is not a food, i intensely dislike vanilla coke. i have friends who love the stuff. frankly i can't see the point.

oh and as for liver being an old man's food, it was a favorite at the school for the blind i attended during my elementary years. it was a bad day in blackrock when they had liver and onions and sweet potatoes which they did a couple times. i grew extremely fond of bread and butter sandwiches.

Oh yeah, stale coffee is the worst, no matter what you do or don't put in it. Or when someone puts way too many coffee grounds in the filter, so it's too strong, not to mention the filter overflows and you get grounds in your coffee. Talk about nasty.
Oh, and I forgot to mention scrapple in my first post. Ewwwwww!

Scrapple? forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is that?

hi ocean dream

scrapple is one of those things you don't want to know what it really is made of. You know kind of like sausage and hot dogs. Orriginally it was enjoyed by german and amish imigrants because they didn't want to waste any part of mr. porker. primarily consumed by me and many other folks on the eastern coast of the us and in the midwest it consists of leftover pig parts, like snouts, and fat which is ground up. then they mix it with cornmeal and spices and sell it in blocks. it's kind of like blood pudding or blood sausage if you have ever eaten these. the blocks are sliced thin and fried until they are crispy on the outside. i know it is politically incorrect to say this but i love it. if you have ever eaten fried mush or hoe cakesit is kind of like that consistency. they also make a beef scrapple now which is supposed to be better for us. however i think that's cheating.

Hmm. Interesting. Kind of reminds me of spam.
